Eve has the zeal in empowering women. She has led Nareto Latia and other indigenous women caucuses to ensure that women, youth and children are freed from the deep rooted harmful retrogressive practices. She takes interest in development of programs that are sustainable and impactful.
NLIPP is a community based organization founded with a premise of community togetherness in advocating for the fundamental rights of the most marginalized and underserved members of the society who are mostly women and girls. The foundation building blocks of Nareto are the individual community women living their daily experiences of hardship, marginalization and violence came up with a solution to end the same cycles. Our programs are right based and are mostly anchored on the legal empowerment. We are women led and we are members of different women networks all over the county which not only makes it easy to implement programmes, but which also ensures community ownership and sustainability of our interventions.
We believe in the personhood of the Indigenous African women, and that our rights are an inalienable, indivisible and integral part of universal human rights. We listen to women and respect their knowledge, perspectives and diverse experiences. We believe in acknowledging, valuing and rewarding women paid and unpaid labor in private and public sector. We believe in women’s bodily integrity and full autonomy.
We believe in non-discrimination, proactive inclusiveness and diversity in all areas of NLIPP’s operations and programmes. We believe in unleashing a full range of women’s creativity and promoting holistic/total confidence in all women, and particularly with young women and women who are discriminated against in multiple and intersecting ways.
We believe that change happens through collective action. We are committed to building or being part of the indigenous women’s and feminist movements, and recognize that this organizing is linked to movements for justice and equality across the world. Our work is linked to that of global Women’s Movements which have worked hard for gains for women, and are sustained by the voices, hands and work of women from all over the world. We work in solidarity and through multiple partnerships to dismantle discriminatory and patriarchal systems and push for transformation toward equality.
Equality is not only important for women; it is good for all of us. Women’s equality ensures a more peaceful and prosperous society for women, men and children. Inequality in the labour market, in policies, organizations, communities and families’ breeds exclusion and can lead to violence.
We believe that community participation is an essential part of the process of good local governance, and community development. Therefore, we consider participatory approaches as a critical instrument of our association.
We believe in the growth and long-term sustainability of organizations led and managed by women in transparent and progressive ways. We believe in prudent, ethical and responsible stewardship of all funds and resources in our care. NLIPP will encourage positive approaches to individual and collective physical, emotional and intellectual wellbeing and all staff, board and volunteers of NLIPP will act with integrity and professionalism, promoting respectful relationships in all our dealings.
